Yoof (...you see what we've done there? That's clever isn't it?), is a club run at and by Woodside Church. It takes place on Fridays during term time from 8-10pm, for school years 9-13 and is open to the whole community.
The club has two primary objectives (sounds like something from Thunderbirds, that), the first is to see young guys and girls who do not know about Jesus, being able to find out more - in a completely non-threatening, relaxed atmosphere; and the second to see those that are Christians to grow in their own knowledge and understanding of Jesus.
Each night consists of a time to hang out with other young people, where they can play footy, eat food, play on computers, play pool, table tennis etc and then generally move into a 'Woodside leaders inventive games' session, where everyone plays a couple games altogether. After this there is sometimes a talk, or a time of worship; and every other week something we call 'cell time' which sees the young people break off into small groups led by one of the leaders, where they have the opportunity to chat and talk about stuff that we might have looked at in a talk or a talk that happend at the church in the Sunday service.
On a couple of occassions in the term we will run a 'social' which is an ideal opportunity for friends to be invited and for general community development within our own young people. In the past we've been ice skating, and had lads and girls nights, bowling, live bands, bouncy castles and bungee runs and on top of all this we have an annual weekend away and 'Newday' (which you can find out more about elsewhere on this site).
The Club is organised and led by Luke Clements, who works full-time as the Youth Worker at Woodside Church, but he is supported by a series of other leaders, all of whom have been CRB and police checked (for a more in depth look at these leaders, follow the link on the right of the page). The club runs as part of Woodside Church and has a working child protection policy.
