Midweek Adult Small Groups
About our Groups
The New Testament church included both large and small gatherings (Acts 2:46). We place equal significance on large celebration meetings where the whole church gathers together as one, and small regular meetings where groups of believers gather in homes. That's why at Woodside, our small groups are right at the heart of the church.
Our vision is to be a community that reaches the community. This means that we are both growing community in our discipleship groups and taking this to the world, just like the early church did. We value and encourage friendships and relationships that are open and honest and believe that it is impossible to live out the Christian faith fully without developing real friendships and being part of a genuine community. Our small groups are the place where this happens.
Therefore, every week, people of all ages gather in small groups to pray, worship, and discuss and apply the Bible to our lives. Each group is a community, not just a meeting, for sharing lives together, reaching the unsaved and so advancing the Kingdom of God.
Our vision is to see the transforming good news of Jesus bringing down barriers and building up a new community for all people of all ages and races and backgrounds. We are growing toward a goal of being a church of 500 members in 50 groups.
We are looking to see small groups gathering and meeting all over the town throughout the week with the expressed aim of working out their Christian faith together and reaching the lost: small communities taking the good news of the Gospel to the world.
Think about a church that is caring for the needy, bringing healing to many and making them effective in their lives for God. This is Woodside’s vision, BIG….yes, but worked out through the small. Small groups are not just a structure or even a strategy they are the core of the church to effectively see all of these things happen.
In summary, through our Small Groups we want:
- To make disciples
- To develop real community as a community to reach the unsaved
- To build for sustainable growth by training and releasing leaders
